BRAINERD — The first-ever CC’s Sack Attack Bags Tournament raised preliminary gross proceeds of more than $6,000 to support Family Fun Day and the Alex & Brandon Child Safety Center, a program of Relationship Safety Alliance.
Held July 25 at CC’s Bar in Brainerd, the event brought together 20 teams, volunteers, local businesses, donors and community members for a day of bags, food, raffles and a silent auction.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the first CC’s Sack Attack such a success,” Shannon Wussow, executive director of Relationship Safety Alliance, said in a news release. “From the businesses that donated and sponsored the event to the teams, bidders, volunteers and community members who came out to support it, this was truly a community effort.”
Recognition goes to committee chair Angie Plantenberg, who dedicated significant time and energy to planning and coordinating the event.
“Events like this show what can happen when local businesses, volunteers and community members come together,” Wussow said. “We look forward to continuing this event and welcoming everyone back next year.”
The second annual CC’s Sack Attack Bags Tournament will be Saturday, July 24, 2027.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
