CENTER, Texas (KTRE) – Center ISD is rolling out weapon detection systems across multiple schools as the district aims to enhance existing safety measures.

In a letter from the district, Center ISD Superintendent Jake Henson announced that multiple schools will implement OPENGATE Weapons Detection technology at F.L. Moffett Elementary (Sept. 15), Center Elementary (Sept. 16) and Center Middle School (Sept. 17) at all student and visitor entry points.

“This proactive measure is designed to provide an additional layer of safety and security for our students, staff, and visitors,” the release said.

In the release the district also made public a YouTube video that explains how these systems work, and steps you can take to make the entry process smooth and efficient.
