Chapman, Griffiths Plan School Safety Town Hall | Public Safety | #schoolsaftey #kids #parents #children

Ashburn District School Board member Deana Griffiths and Sheriff Mike Chapman will hold a town hall meeting on school safety on Sept. 29, Griffiths announced Wednesday.

Griffiths said Chapman and members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office will attend the meeting at Trailside Middle School at 20325 Claiborne Pkwy., Ashburn from 6 to 8 p.m. The meeting will be in the auditorium.

“The safety of our students is paramount and that is why I support a multi-layered approach, including School Security Officers (SSOs), School Resource Officers (SROs), Crossing Guards and increased e-bike safety around our schools and neighborhoods,” Griffiths said.

The town hall will discuss e-bikes, pedestrian and intersection safety, school resource officers, and “other concerns” for Ashburn schools.

Griffiths has been vocal in her support for expansion of the SRO program as well as making safety improvements to intersections in her district, some of which have seen crashes involving students that were seriously hurt or killed.
