Sunday marks day two of Albany County’s 42nd annual Traffic Safety Awareness Weekend.
On Saturday, county officials say 61 car seats were checked. Only one of the seats was installed properly.
Nine car seats were replaced because they were recalled, expired, damaged, or inappropriate for the child’s age, weight, or height.
One counterfeit car seat was taken out of circulation.
The car seat checkup was the final exam for the graduating Child Passenger Safety Technicians.
Over the past two years, technicians inspected 115 child safety seats at this event, and only five were installed correctly upon arrival.
