A Montgomery County man was sentenced to 60 years in prison after a jury convicted him of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — A Montgomery County man will spend the next 60 years of his life in prison after a jury found him guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting a child, prosecutors said.
Josean Michael Vallejo, 31, was convicted July 22 of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by contact following a three-day trial in the 221st District Court.
Investigators said the case began after the child disclosed repeated abuse to a trusted adult. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office led the investigation, which included a forensic interview at Children’s Safe Harbor and a sexual assault exam.
Evidence presented in court showed Vallejo assaulted the child over an extended period and used manipulation and grooming, according to prosecutors.
Jurors found Vallejo guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to 60 years in prison for each aggravated sexual assault charge and 20 years for the indecency charge. The sentences will run concurrently, for a total of 60 years.
Assistant District Attorneys Ann Kuykendall and Erin Delano prosecuted the case.
“Every child deserves to know that when they tell the truth, there will be adults who listen … and who will fight to protect them,” Kuykendall said.
District Attorney Mike Holley said the conviction removes a predator from the community and reinforces that children who come forward will not stand alone.
