KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A local child-safety group is working to reduce a common risk on the road: incorrectly installed car seats.
Safe Kids Johnson County held a free car seat check event Saturday, March 22, at McCarthy Chevrolet, showing parents how to properly install their own seats and helping make sure children are restrained correctly.
Organizers inspected seats for missing parts and checked expiration dates. They also reviewed harness height and strap tightness, and walked caregivers through installation steps.
The group’s message: children should be buckled into an age- and size-appropriate car seat every time — even on short trips close to home.
