NORCROSS, Ga. — The City of Norcross said it recently identified a ransomware incident that happened earlier this month, impacting some computer systems.
City officials shared a message online on Friday to make residents aware of the situation. They said the incident occurred on Aug. 1.
“As soon as the incident was detected, the City took immediate steps to respond, including engaging experienced cybersecurity professionals and notifying law enforcement,” the message said.
They added that most city systems and services are operational, but residents may still see limited disruptions to certain services. Restoration efforts are still underway. Officials are also adding more security measures.
“The City is working to safely restore all remaining affected systems as quickly as possible while maintaining the security and integrity of its network,” officials added.
They are still investigating the matter.
