FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A 36-year-old convicted child molester is wanted by police after he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor last week.
Corey Wickline pleaded guilty to two sex crimes in 2020 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by five years on probation per a plea agreement. Two child molesting charges were dismissed in the agreement, which carry a combined potential sentence of 52 years in prison.
The young girl identified Wickline as her abuser, according to a probable cause affidavit. When speaking to a Fort Wayne Police sergeant, Wickline said if he sexually abused the girl, he “wouldn’t be here.”
“I’d be running, to be honest with you,” Wickline said, according to court documents.
Court records obtained by 21Investigates show Wickline was released from prison last month and began serving his probation time with Allen County Community Corrections. As part of the program, he is required to wear a GPS ankle monitor to track his whereabouts.
However, on Friday, dispatchers received alerts that Wickline’s ankle monitor had been tampered with, court records say. A sheriff’s deputy located the monitor along Fishing Line Trail with a severed strap.
Wickline was nowhere to be found.
A warrant was issued for his arrest over the weekend.
Wickline is white, 5′11″ and about 250 pounds. He has gray hair and brown eyes.
Wickline also has multiple tattoos, including a skull face on his right arm, skulls on his right leg and a cross on his left arm.
