BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A 31-year-old man has been ordered to spend the next decade behind bars for child sex crimes.
United States Attorney Kurt Wall announced Thursday, Sept. 3, that Kleider Enrique Garcia-Ochoa, a Venezuelan national living in the United States without permission, was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison following his conviction for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
He was indicted on those charges in 2025.
U.S. District Court Judge Brian Jackson sentenced Ochoa to five years of supervised release once he gets out of prison. Officials stated that he will also be subject to deportation from the United States after his sentence is complete.
Prosecutors said that, according to admissions made during his plea, Ochoa used social media apps and the name “Conociendo” to convince someone he believed was a 15-year-old boy in Denham Springs to have an illegal sexual relationship with him.
He was arrested by officers when he arrived in Denham Springs to pick up the supposed 15-year-old boy, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said that during his conduct, Ochoa sent an explicit image to the supposed 15-year-old and requested that the supposed 15-year-old send him explicit photos of himself.
“This was excellent work by our prosecutors and law enforcement partners,” Wall said. “Anyone who attempts to sexually exploit our children in the Middle District of Louisiana needs to know that they will be held accountable. We will continue to pursue these predators relentlessly.”
