ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – A convicted child predator was sentenced to 16 years for distributing child sexual abuse material.
According to records, 40-year-old Justin Adkins was convicted of second-degree exploitation of a minor in Buncombe County and sentenced. He was released from state custody in April 2023 and placed on post-release supervision until 2028.
He was also faced the same charge in McDowell County in 2024.
On November 7, 2023, law enforcement agencies conducted a probation search of his home and found he possessed CSAM. They also seized narcotics and drug paraphernalia.
Court records revealed that a Homeland Security computer analyst analyzed Adkins electronic devices and found thousands of CSAM images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children. He also distributed the items online.
Adkins pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography on December 18, 2024.
He is currently in federal custody and will be transfeered to the custody of the Fedneral Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility.
Adkins was ordered to serve a lfietime of supervised release and to register as a sex offender after he is released from prison.
