OKEECHOBEE — On Thursday, March 12, convicted sexual predator Kevin Douglas Blackmon, 49, was sentenced to 42.2 years in prison for 21 counts of failure to register as a sex offender.

Blackmon was adjudicated guilty for the charge of sexual battery on a person 12 years of age or older with a deadly weapon or force in April of 2004. Then he was also adjudicated guilty of the charge of kidnapping a child under the age of 13 in February of 2012. Both convictions were in Broward County.

He was still on probation when he was arrested by OCSO on July 11, 2022 for failing to register as a convicted sex offender, thereby violating the terms of his probation.

Blackmon was found to have a Facebook account that he was allegedly using to offer taxi services. OSCO detectives posed as a 15-year-old girl and contacted Blackmon asking for a ride. When he arrived at the agreed upon location, he was arrested and charged with failure to register.

Florida Statue 775.21 requires that all sexual predators register any email or social media accounts with law enforcement.

Blackmon was convicted of 21 counts of failure to register as a sex offender for his online activities. The state attorney was seeking life in prison but on March 12, Blackmon was sentenced to 42.2 years in prison.
