DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Darlington County officials are investigating a cybersecurity incident affecting some county computer systems and limiting certain services.
Darlington County Administrator Marion “Charles” Stewart III said some systems have been proactively taken offline as officials work to address the incident. As a result, some county services are available in a limited capacity.
Emergency services remain fully operational, Stewart said. The incident has not affected the county’s 911 communications center or its ability to receive calls and dispatch emergency responders.

Darlington County is working with third-party cybersecurity specialists and law enforcement agencies at multiple levels to investigate the incident and restore full functionality to the county’s network as quickly and securely as possible.
“The investigation remains active and ongoing, and we have significant resources dedicated to this process,” Stewart said in a statement.
Stewart said the county continues to provide services to residents and the public while working to restore the affected systems.

County officials said additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
