David Broadway pleads not guilty in Ohio case tied to alleged scams targeting older adults | #datingscams #romancescams

David Broadway, previously convicted of fraud in Indiana, faces new Ohio charges including engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A man previously reported by 11 Investigates for allegedly scamming older adults across multiple states has pleaded not guilty to new felony charges in Ohio.

According to court records, David Broadway entered not guilty pleas on April 9 in Defiance County Court of Common Pleas to:

  • engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a second-degree felony
  • theft from a person in a protected class, a fourth-degree felony

A pretrial conference in the case is scheduled for April 27.

Broadway was transported to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio after serving time in Indiana. Court records show he pleaded guilty to a felony fraud charge in Hendricks County, Indiana, on Dec. 4 and was sentenced to six months in jail.

Based on the timeline of his transfer, it appears the Ohio case may have moved forward while he was still in custody in Indiana.

As previously reported by 11 Investigates, Broadway was taken into custody by a U.S. Marshals Task Force in Indiana after being wanted on multiple felony warrants across several states, including Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.

Investigators have accused Broadway, a contractor, of targeting older adults with home improvement offers, then charging significantly more than quoted or leaving work incomplete. Previous reporting indicated similar allegations dating back to at least 2006.

After a series of reports and warnings in northwest Ohio, Broadway appeared to leave the area before later being located in Indiana, where law enforcement was alerted to his presence.

The charges filed in Ohio represent the latest development in a multi-state investigation into Broadway’s alleged conduct.
