Dept hits back at security company’s claims

The North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation has denied claims it failed to pay Quick Bopha Security, a company operating in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.

THE North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sport and Recreation (ACSR) has dismissed allegations that it failed to pay a security company operating in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district.

This follows claims that Quick Bopha Security had not been paid, leaving guards without salaries and frustrated. But the department told Daily Sun the allegations are misleading and far from the truth.

Department spokesman Shuping Sobolecwe said all payments to service providers are processed according to government regulations, which require invoices to be settled within 30 days.

“We dispute these allegations as this has never happened before. We uphold government directives that service providers must be paid within 30 days,” he said.

However, workers employed by the security company told Daily Sun they have still not received their wages. Some guards claimed that they haven’t been paid for January, February and March, with many allegedly forced to resign without receiving their money.

Angry employees accused the company of making empty promises and repeatedly pushing back payment dates.

In response, the department explained that the February invoice was only submitted in March 2026 and was paid in April 2026 after the budget was loaded onto the financial system.

It added that the March invoice would typically be submitted in early April and paid within the same month.

Sobolecwe stressed that any failure by the company to pay its workers cannot be blamed on the department.

“If there are delays due to processes or financial systems, the department communicates with service providers, and such delays will never exceed a month,” Sobolecwe added.

Quick Bopha Security admitted delays in paying workers, blaming cash flow problems linked to government clients.

Director Nkagisang William Dipitso said some departments pause payments until financial systems reopen after the financial year-end.

The department warned that unfounded claims damage its reputation and urged partners to avoid spreading misinformation.
