An East Haven man is among eight people arrested in a New Jersey roundup of suspected child predators, a prosecutor said.

Kenneth Davis, 66, was charged with two counts of third-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child and one count of fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact, according to the Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey.

In announcement on Facebook Monday, Marbrey said law enforcement targeted people who used social media apps “to exploit and prey upon children.” The investigation, called Operation Guardian Angel, “focused on identifying and apprehending individuals who used online platforms to engage in unlawful communications and activities involving minors,” she said.

The prosecutor’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force conducted the investigation, which started its work in March in anticipation of increased international and domestic travel associated with the FIFA World Cup and a surge of visitors to New Jersey, Marbrey said.

The other people arrested — all men — were from New Jersey and Pennsylvania, she said.
