RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (VVNG.com) — Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying additional potential victims after a 46-year-old Eastvale man was arrested for allegedly attempting to meet a minor for sexual acts during an undercover online operation.
According to a statement from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station, the arrest was the result of a proactive investigation conducted by detectives on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
Detectives posing as a 13-year-old boy engaged in a conversation with a suspect later identified as Misael Miranda Chavez, who initiated contact through the “KIK” messaging platform.
Investigators said Chavez continued the communication outside of the app, using the username “chinoCa21,” and arranged to meet the fictitious minor with the intent to engage in sexual activity.
When Chavez arrived at the predetermined location in the city of Rancho Cucamonga, he was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC 288.3(a) – Contacting a Minor for Lewd Purpose and was later released on $100,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Department has released Chavez’s photograph and username in an effort to identify any other individuals who may have been approached by him.
“Detectives believe there may be additional victims,” officials stated. “We encourage anyone with information to come forward.”
Anyone who may have interacted with Chavez online or in person is urged to contact the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station at (909) 477-2800. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or visit www.wetip.com.
