
Home Minister G. Parameshwara said here on Friday that every police constable in the State is being trained in cybercrime investigation.
Speaking at the launch of Special Action Force (SAF) in Mangaluru on Friday, Mr. Parameshwara said there is drastic rise in cybercrime cases in the State and all police stations are now empowered to register FIR on different cyber frauds.
“Every police constable is being trained in cybercrime investigation. Training is being given in the offices of (District) Superintendent of Police,” Mr. Parameshwara said.
The State police are adopting new technology solutions to improve policing. Additional Hoysala vehicles are being given to all districts to help police to quickly respond to calls of people.
Later speaking to reporters, the Minister said the Anti-Naxal Force will not be totally dismantled. As many as 248 personnel from ANF were pulled out to create the SAF. He said though there was no activity of Maoists in Karnataka, they are active in other parts of the country. “We have retained the (400-odd) ANF personnel in case need arises to make use of them in the coming days,” Mr. Parameshwara said.
