The Storm ransomware group has claimed its fourth Australian victim, adding another automotive dealer to its leak site earlier this week.
The hackers listed the Sharp Motor Group in a 23 August leak post, and while the hackers have not shared the volume of data they allege to have stolen, they have published several documents and files as evidence of the hack.

These include passport and driver’s license scans belonging to employees, financial data, customer invoices, and passwords and user IDs. Storm has said it will publish the entire dataset on 14 September.
The Sharp Motor Group is aware of the hacker’s claims and is actively investigating the incident.
“Sharp Motor Group is aware that our third-party IT provider has been involved in a cyber incident,” a company spokesperson told Cyber Daily.
“We are taking this matter seriously and working closely with independent cyber specialists and relevant authorities. We have also notified the OAIC in line with our regulatory obligations.
“The privacy and safety of our staff and customers remain our main priority.”
Who is Storm?
Storm only emerged as a potential threat this month, although in that time the group has posted the details of 26 alleged victims, with four of them Australian, including Ramsey Bros and Westco Motors Cairns.
Neither company replied to Cyber Daily’s request for comment, so it is not known if they, too, were hacked via a third-party supplier, as Sharp Motors has suggested.
Storm describes itself as a “premier, results-driven firm operating at the intersection of high finance and specialised strategic services”.
Storm said it does not target organisations within the Commonwealth of Independent States and is actively recruiting affiliates.

The Sharp Motor Group has a pair of dealerships in Tweed Heads, NSW, and offers both new and used vehicles.
The dealer also accepts trade-ins and offers car servicing alongside finance for purchases.
