
Experts at Niagara University’s cybersecurity forum emphasized the importance of staying informed on cyber threats and AI.
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Experts in the cybersecurity industry hosted a forum with panelists Tuesday evening at Niagara University who discussed cyber threats and trends for 2025 and beyond as well as how to protect organizations and individuals.
The summit was hosted by Niagara’s Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
The following individuals were panelists for the event:
- Jonathan Sandonato: a senior analyst on the cyber threat intelligence team at New York Life Insurance Company
- Salvatore Vescio: a cryptocurrency accounting specialist at Kugelman Law
- Darrick Kristich: CEO of Sedara
- Timothy Carroll: a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations
- Greg Machin: a data analyst for the FBI
- Michael Fortin: a digital operations specialist for the FBI
- Mick Weimer: an intelligence analyst for the FBI
“Like Darrick was talking about and John was talking about… staying on top of it, understanding what it delivers for you. And understanding how to use it and oversee the process,” Petters Lovaas, Ph.D. NU Chair, Cyber Security & Operations said.
Niagara University was recently designated a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense by the National Security Administration and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Starting next fall, NU will be launching its new School of Cybersecurity and Applied Artificial Intelligence.
