(NewsNation) — Popular milk brand Fairlife is pausing production in the United States because of a ransomware cyberattack.
The Coca-Cola Company, which owns Fairlife, said it has “identified unauthorized access by a third party to a portion of its systems, including its production-related systems,” according to a release Thursday. As a result, the company said production operations in the United States have been temporarily suspended.

Coca-Cola confirmed it is working with outside advisers and cybersecurity experts on the investigation and has notified law enforcement. It also said Canadian production operations remain unaffected.
“The company is working diligently to complete the investigation and restore the systems and impacted operations,” the release said.

While the “full scope, nature and impacts of the incident” remain unclear, the company confirmed that “product quality and safety have not been affected.”
Ransomware attacks involve cybercriminals demanding payment to restore hacked systems and make up a growing number of cybercrimes, The Associated Press reported.
