Investigation into Cyberbullying Claims
His father Vinayagam has filed a complaint with the police against another YouTuber, Jason Samuel, who is also the CEO of Zemuria Inc for questioning his son”s financial advice credentials and driving his son to death.
The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are collecting statements and probing the digital trail.
Details of the Incident
Harish killed himself at a rented villa near Muttukadu in Chennai, after reportedly leaving a video behind.
He ran the popular ‘Finance With Harish’ social media brand, which had over 1.3 million followers across Instagram and YouTube.
According to Vinayagam, Samuel, in a video posted on October 18, raised questions about Harish”s credentials with the SEBI and AMFI, which set off severe trolling driving the latter to take his own life.
Allegations and Denials
Samuel”s video led to Harish”s social media accounts being mass-reported and subsequently disabled, leading to depression on his part.
In a social media statement Samuel did not deny the video but denied that he had cyberbullied Harish.
He was only acting in the interests of the consumers in pointing out that Harish lacked a SEBI Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) licence, he said.
Pointing out regulatory violations and a fake licence does not mean inciting suicide, he has stated.
