A registered sexual predator accused of failing to update his address after being evicted has been arrested in Flagler County, deputies said.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said Jamie Evans, 43, of DeLand, was identified during Operation Offenders: Endgame, an enforcement effort targeting registered sex offenders and predators.
Deputies said an enforcement team went to Evans’ registered address in Bunnell on Aug. 27 to conduct a compliance check.
Investigators did not find Evans there and contacted the homeowner, who told deputies Evans had been evicted July 31.
According to FCSO, Evans had last registered the address May 31 and had not reported a new permanent residence.
Detectives determined he had absconded in violation of his registration requirements.
On Aug. 31, deputies learned Evans had arrived at the FCSO Detention Administration and Visitation Center to update his registration.
Investigators said Evans told them he had been sneaking back into the Bunnell residence at night without the homeowner’s knowledge after being evicted, but had been staying with his girlfriend in DeLand since Aug. 20.
Evans was arrested on a charge of failure of a sexual predator to report a change in permanent residence.
He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and was being held on $20,000 bond, according to FCSO.
“I guess he thought he should register after hearing about Operation Offenders: Endgame and that we were looking for him, but that doesn’t change the fact he violated the law by failing to update his address when he was evicted like he was required to do,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.
The sheriff’s office said Evans’ arrest brings the total number of arrests connected to Operation Offenders: Endgame to 43.
Deputies still searching for 2 men
FCSO said investigators are still looking for Warren Franklin, a registered sex offender accused of absconding from his registered Palm Coast residence, and Christopher Raymond, a registered sex offender who was last known to be living at a Bunnell residence with three other sex offenders.
