Fort Smith Public Schools restores limited phone service after reported cybersecurity incident.
FORT SMITH, Ark. — Fort Smith Public Schools (FSPS) has provided an update on its recent cybersecurity incident that caused its communications systems to be shut down last week.
On July 21, FSPS announced that the district had been impacted by a cybersecurity incident, disrupting its internet access and phone lines.
More than a week later, on July 30, FSPS informed the public that its technology team had responded to the incident.
“At this time, there is no indication that E-finance, our financial management system housing employee data, or E-school, our student information data systems, were directly affected,” FSPS said. “The safety and security of our systems remain a top priority, and our technology team continues to work diligently to restore full functionality.”
The district said it will restore phone services to its school offices with limited phone service. FSPS said calls to the Service Center would be managed by an answering service, which will route messages to the appropriate staff and departments.
For more information, the district asks that you contact them via email at communications@fortsmithschools.org.
No further details on the incident were released.
