Fort Worth police arrested 10 people accused of using the internet to solicit children for sex in a sting operation earlier this month, officials announced Wednesday.
From April 1 through April 3, investigators with the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit led an undercover operation, called Operation Spring Cleaning, to target the suspects, according to a Facebook post.
Investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies used different online platforms to identify predators seeking sexual contact with children under age 17. Partners included the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the FBI and the U.S. Secret Service.
Body-camera footage released by the department Wednesday shows the arrest of the 10 suspects, who range in age from 19 to 41.
Nine more people are under investigation, with arrest warrants forthcoming, officials said.
“This operation is a strong reminder that law enforcement is already working to find anyone using the internet to target children, and to encourage parents to always be involved in who your children might be communicating with online or though social media platforms,” police said.
