
Stafford’s ‘Child Safety Day’ gives kids an up close look at the equipment used by first responders
STAFFORD, Connecticut — Families in Stafford got an up close look at the equipment used by first responders for their 4th annual ‘Child Safety Day.’
From 2 to 4, Stafford High School hosted over 36 organizations to talk to kids about safety and show off the resources first responders have at their disposal.

Organizers also brought together wellness groups to teach kids about injury prevention, poison control, and other community health resources.
Event organizer, Janice Morton, tells us, their child safety day allows children and their families to get familiar with the resources in their community.

“We want to make sure people know these are the first responders in our community. They’re here to help you, these are the resources that they have available, and to not be be scared of a police officer or a firefighter. They should be able to know that these are people in their community who are able to help you,” said Morton
Organizers also made sure kids stayed safe when hopping on their bikes. Over 500 bike helmets were given out to kids who attended.
