Mira Road: In a bid to reach out to large masses during the festive season, the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police will launch a special awareness campaign during Ganeshotsav 2025. Under the initiative, officers from Zone I will visit Ganesh mandals across the city to conduct informative sessions on cybercrimes, women’s safety, and the menace of narcotics.
DCP (Zone I) Rahul Chavan said the festival presents a unique opportunity to connect with a large number of people in a short span of time. “Most of the cases registered in our police stations are related to cybercrimes, offences against women, and narcotics. Ganeshotsav gives us an ideal platform to educate citizens directly on these issues,” he explained.
Police have already begun compiling a list of prominent Ganesh mandals, which will be visited over the next eight days. Each mandal will be requested to allocate a 40-minute slot in their programmes for the police awareness drive. Citizens’ groups or housing societies wishing to host similar sessions are asked to approach the Zone I office at Kanakia Road, near the 7/11 Club.
Earlier this week, a preparatory meeting was held at Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari Hall, Mira Road, where MBVV Police officials, Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation representatives, and Ganesh mandal office-bearers discussed the campaign framework.
To ensure effective delivery, a dedicated team has been constituted under DCP Chavan. The unit will include four women officers along with male officers, who will use a specially prepared PowerPoint presentation projected on screens at the mandals. “Our aim is to make the sessions engaging, informative, and accessible so that maximum citizens benefit from the campaign,” Chavan added.
With Ganeshotsav celebrations set to begin soon, the MBVV Police’s proactive approach reflects a blend of cultural sensitivity and community policing.
