Three-quarters of dark web posts targeting German victims focus solely on the nation.
Germany has become the top target for cyber-criminal activity on the dark web and through ransomware campaigns.
According to new research from SOCRadar, Cybernews reports that Germany accounts for 20.68% of all stolen records found in stealer malware logs, nearly three times more than Brazil, the second-ranked country.
Analysts note that 74.6% of dark web posts targeting German victims focus solely on the nation, reflecting highly localised campaigns against its businesses and industries.
Ransomware attacks, while often global in scope, also hit Germany hard, with manufacturing bearing the brunt at 18.15% of incidents. Other heavily affected sectors include information services and IT providers.
Experts warn that attackers prioritise industries where downtime is most costly, making Germany’s 24/7 factories especially attractive targets. The report concludes that German enterprises must elevate cybersecurity to a board-level priority, embedding cyber risk management, intelligence insights, and incident response directly into business strategy
