GIANT stores, pharmacies, and fuel stations remain open during normal business hours.“While we’re experiencing technical difficulties, we’re making it easy for our customers to still get savings,” Flower explained. On Wednesday, the GIANT grocery store app and website became unavailable to customers due to what their parent company is calling a “cybersecurity incident.”    However, GIANT isn’t the only recent target. On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that cyberattacks also disrupted European supermarket chains, causing refrigeration systems to overheat at hundreds of stores in France.GIANT’s parent company, Ahold Delhaize, said in an online statement that the teams are taking steps to assess and get the issue under control.“This resulted in us taking precautionary measures, including taking some systems offline to help protect them,” Ahold Delhaize shared.“We recognize that these actions have caused disruption for customers, associates and partners, but protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority,” they added. The parent company says it is working with urgency to investigate the incident and restore the affected systems safely. They say that they are working on performing controlled re-launches of the systems one at a time. The investigation into this cybersecurity incident is ongoing, and the company says they are not sharing further details at this moment, as it could compromise security measures or interfere with response efforts.“Although our investigation is still ongoing, we have no evidence at this moment that customer, associate, and partner data was taken in this cybersecurity incident,” Ahold Delhaize said.GIANT Stores around the region remain open.
