Giant parent company shuts some systems after network security issue | Business News

Giant’s parent company said it took some systems, including the food store’s website, offline after a cybersecurity incident.

In a news release, Ahold Delhaize said it experienced a security issue in its network.

The company said its teams were taking steps to assess and mitigate the issue, including taking some systems offline to help protect its systems.

Stores remained open and were serving customers, the company said.

“Protecting our infrastructure in the best interest of our customers, associates and partners is a top priority,” the company said in its news release. “We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused customers and partners.”

The Giant website displayed a message saying the company was working to restore service as quickly as possible.

The website said customers could place delivery orders through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats. Any unfulfilled orders placed through GiantFood.com or the Giant Food app would be refunded, the company said.

Giant asked people with prescriptions or vaccination appointments to contact their local Giant Pharmacy.
