GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — Glendale police say officers recovered a stolen car that led them to a child sex predator who was wanted in another state. The police department said it was all possible because of their real-time crime center.Video from the crime center shows how officers use critical tools to find suspects. How police tracked down the suspectJessy Simpkins, 42, is now behind bars.Glendale police arrested him for theft, but it turns out he also had two outstanding felony warrants out of Florida for sexual assault of a minor. His last run-in with the law started in a parking lot near 59th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale on Sept. 9. Officers in the crime center got a tip about a white Ford Explorer being stolen, so detectives started tailing it.To keep the trail from going cold, officers got drones up in the air following the truck to a residential area, all while giving officers on the ground live information on what they were walking into. At one point, Simpkins can be seen backing the truck into a driveway at a mobile home park. Police said the house was vacant.Simpkins then walked over to the next home, where he started rummaging through another white truck. Police said that was not his home or his truck. Meanwhile, detectives crouched behind a barrier to quickly close in on Simpkins.Crews converged on the home from all directions to make the arrest. No one was hurt. It’s not clear if Simpkins is from Arizona, where he allegedly stole the truck from, or when he’s due back in court. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story?
