The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority has launched a “strategic” partnership with ISSQUARED, which hospital officials said will bring “around-the-clock” security services to strengthen the hospital’s cybersecurity and modernize its network infrastructure, according to a press release from GMHA.

ISSQUARED, a provider of managed security and IT services, will provide the hospital with security services management “24/7,” according to the hospital’s release on Friday, noting they act as “around-the-clock digital sentinels” for the hospital’s mission.

As part of the partnership, ISSQUARED will continuously monitor and triage, provide incident response, detect anomalies, and manage vulnerabilities, the release said.

“By utilizing proactive safety checks to identify system weaknesses and detect digital threats, GMHA is building the foundational layers of a zero trust posture that treats cybersecurity as a vital pillar of public safety,” the hospital said.

The hospital called the partnership with ISSQUARED an advancement and said it aligns with the National Cybersecurity Strategy and National Institute of Standards and Technology standards. With the partnership, the hospital envisions a “more resilient health care environment” for Guam and the Pacific as they look toward organizational renewal and safeguarding patient information while supporting uninterrupted health care operations.

According to the hospital, the cybersecurity improvements will bring more reliable connectivity.

“ISSQUARED will design, deploy, and manage a new, full-scale Wi-Fi solution across the hospital campus. This initiative directly supports GMHA’s efforts to improve communication and connectivity throughout the facility, ensuring more reliable access to critical systems and reducing connectivity gaps in patient care areas,” the hospital said.

GMHA Interim Hospital Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Joleen Aguon called the partnership a “step forward” for security and connectivity at the hospital.

“Reliable, secure systems are essential to patient care. By enhancing our infrastructure, we are supporting our care teams with the tools they need to communicate effectively and deliver timely, high-quality care at every level – including at the bedside,” Aguon said.
