INDIANA (WFIE) – Governor Mike Braun signed new legislation into law today in hopes of protecting more Indiana children.
The law increases penalties for child exploitation from a Level 5 to a Level 4 felony.
It also raises “possession of child sexual abuse material” to a Level 4 felony.
It was authored by Evansville’s State Representative, Wendy McNamara.
The new law also adds “high-risk missing persons” to Indiana’s Silver Alert system.
McNamara says, that will help raise awareness across the state to find missing children in danger.
