Grant County Sheriff says cyber crime is prevalent; stay vigilant | #cybercrime | #infosec

JOHN DAY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was recently on KJDY’s Coffee Time, and reminded listeners to be vigilant and not become victims of electronic crime:

“We obviously see a lot of electronic crime now, whether it’s bank fraud, financial crimes against the elderly, we see a lot of that. Some of those are very difficult and time consuming to deal with, but we chase it the best we can. A lot of those it’s education—educating them to not be victims to that, and [to] protect your information and not give it out.”

The Federal Bureau of Investigation states, “If you are the victim of a cyber-enabled crime or fraud, file a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) as soon as possible.”
