A dark web breach revealed supplier maps and component details for upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, raising alarms about production security and competitive exposure.
In materials released by actors from the dark web after a data breach at the Indian supplier Tata Electronics, sensitive lists of components and suppliers for future iPhone 18 Pro models, as well as photos of the devices, appeared. According to documents and an anonymous source, the leak includes data about confidential parts and their manufacturers.
This information threatens Apple’s tightly run manufacturing process, as the company assembles devices from a wide network of suppliers worldwide. The disclosed data could affect trade deals, give competitors insight into the allocation of roles among suppliers, and enable counterfeiters to track who makes what.
Tata Electronics, which serves as a contract manufacturer and parts supplier for the iPhone, is rising as one of Apple’s key partners outside of China. This forms an important element of Apple’s strategy to expand production in India, aligning with the government initiative to make India an electronics producer.
The expected release of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is planned for September. The leak comes as pressure on Apple grows due to rising memory and storage costs: analysts anticipate further price increases for the iPhone in the coming months.
Earlier reports stated that the leak contains more than 200,000 files released by World Leaks, including materials allegedly related to the design of higher-end iPhone models and some Tesla components, which are also Tata’s clients. Also mentioned are documents from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co and Qualcomm, which manufacture parts used in the iPhone.
New review of the documents shows that at least six files link specific components to particular suppliers. These include chips on the motherboard and parts of the battery and cameras.
Apple regards these details as sensitive because they pertain to models not yet announced. The supplier maps to iPhone parts are not published in the company’s public database, and their leak could affect competitiveness and supply-chain management.
In the leak, hundreds of details describe exactly how Apple distributes workloads among suppliers and at which production stages it depends on a limited circle of partners, illustrating both its bargaining power and potential vulnerabilities.
Representatives from Apple and Tata did not respond to requests for comment. World Leaks previously claimed responsibility for the Nike incident leak, but there is no confirmation of that claim. There is also no official explanation from World Leaks regarding this situation.
Apple is investigating the circumstances of the incident and is working with Tata on long-term data-protection measures: Tata has tightened internal access restrictions to sensitive systems and engaged a global forensics consultant.

The leak also includes images of iPhone 18 Pro drop tests, taken at one of Tata’s plants and dated to early 2026. The photos show a standard flat gray device with a triple-camera module and the Apple logo on the body.
Although the exact model is not confirmed, the source indicates that it is likely the iPhone 18 Pro. This leak underscores the seriousness of the incident for Apple and Tata, who are working on diversifying the supply chain beyond China.
