Hackers offer 1 million stolen Flink records to the highest bidder after extortion fails | #cybercrime | #infosec

Cybercriminals are offering stolen personal data from one million customers and over 10,000 employees of the grocery delivery service Flink, RTL reports. The organization, called the LPG Group, reportedly has home addresses and phone numbers that they are offering to the highest bidder.

The hackers also have people’s order information. The stolen data is said to cover the period from March through September of this year. German customers reportedly also appear in the leak.

RTL said it reviewed and verified the stolen data. Several affected customers have reportedly confirmed their home address, phone number, email address, and the price of their most recent order.

Over the past week, the hackers tried extorting the customers, demanding the payment of 0.005 ether, which is around 12 euros, in exchange for not posting the data on the dark web. It was reported earlier that no one paid. The cybercriminals expected a minimum of 235,000 euros, according to RTL. The news agency also said that it looked at 32 extortion emails from the hackers that Flink customers sent it.

Flink reports that the data was stolen by taking over a former employee’s account. The organization said it has since added security measures and brought in experts. It has also notified the data protection authorities and filed a police report.

Last year, a telecom service provider, Odido, was also hit by a massive data breach by the group called ShinyHunters. The hackers stole data of more than 6 million people in the Netherlands, which was later posted on the dark web.
