Hackers have stolen more than 1.5 million files from a construction company in Saudi Arabia commissioned to build facilities for the 2034 Fifa World Cup, a cyber threat monitoring group has reported.

About 17 terabytes’ worth of documents, contracts, payment information, stadium designs and personal data of 150,000 employees at the China Railway Railway Construction Corporation/Sama Construction consortium is said to have been compromised on October 3.

Hackmanac, a cybersecurity analysis firm based in the UAE, attributed the attack to a group commonly known as WallStreet. It described the consortium as the “main contractor for Jeddah Central Stadium, a planned 2034 Fifa World Cup venue”.
