MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A Child Safety Day aimed at helping families keep children safe and healthy is planned for 10 am to 1 pm, Saturday, May 30, at the National Maritime Museum in Downtown Mobile.

The event is presented by USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital and will offer education and resources focused on child safety and wellness for families in Mobile and surrounding communities.

Water safety education and fittings will be offered along with a limited number of free life jackets for kids present provided by a grant funded by Gulf Coast RC&D Council. Pediatricians from Children’s & Women’s Hospital will be talking about safety topics such electric bike and scooter safety, along with other safety challenges facing families.

In addition, representatives from a variety of local agencies will be on hand to share safety tips and lead fun, family-friendly activities. Organizers say the goal of Child Safety Day is to provide parents and caregivers with practical tools and information to help protect children, prevent injuries, and promote healthy habits.

Discounted admissions are being offered by the museum during the event.
