AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Hephzibah man Monday morning as part of the continuing “Operation Fourth Take” investigation.

William Gene Burnett, 56, repeatedly contacted who he believed to be a child over the course of several days, according to reports.

Deputies say that during his conversations, Burnett would describe in graphic detail the sexual interactions he wanted to have with the “child” and sent explicit pictures of himself.

Even though he was advised numerous times that he was speaking with a “child”, Burnett continued his behavior and attempted to arrange an in-person meetup, according to officials.

Burnett was taken into custody and transported to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center where he will stay until he is transferred to the Columbia County Detention Center.

Burnet was charged with computer or electronic pornography and child exploitation prevention.
