- Dozens of families received free car seat inspections and safety education from certified technicians
- The event supports Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to child safety through its Hyundai Hope initiative
DOWNEY, Calif., July 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Hyundai Motor America, in collaboration with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), recently hosted a child safety seat program focused on educating families and promoting the safe transportation of children in vehicles. The event, held at Downey Hyundai, is part of Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to child passenger safety and injury prevention. This initiative also reflects Hyundai’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts through Hyundai Hope, which supports child and community safety through partnerships and educational outreach.
“Child passenger safety is not just a priority, it’s a responsibility we take seriously,” said Cole Stutz, chief safety officer, Hyundai Motor North America. “Together with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we’re equipping families with the knowledge and resources to make informed, life-saving decisions. It’s a powerful example of how automotive innovation and community engagement can work hand in hand to protect our most vulnerable passengers.”
Motor vehicle crashes remain a leading cause of injury and death for children in the U.S. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of child safety seats are installed or used incorrectly. Proper use of child safety seats can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and 54 percent for toddlers.
The event featured certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST) who provided local families free car seat inspections, installation assistance, and safety education. Parents and caregivers received guidance to ensure their car seats were properly installed and met current safety standards. The collaboration with CHLA underscores the mutual commitment to provide education and resources to prevent future injuries from occurring and will directly support the hospital’s nationally recognized Injury Prevention Program.
This child safety seat program is part of Hyundai’s broader efforts to support families and promote child safety through its Hyundai Hope initiative. By partnering with trusted institutions such as CHLA, Hyundai is helping to reduce preventable injuries and fatalities through education, outreach, and access to essential safety resources.
