An Indian-origin associate professor at the University of California, San Diego, has come under fire after a viral video posted by ‘People and Predators’ showed him being confronted in an alleged online child predator sting, as per reports.

San Diego police officers were seen in the video arriving at the scene before saying they couldn’t arrest Shah, according to a post on X.

Lt Travis Easter of the San Diego Police Department said that the incident is under investigation.

“We are aware of the incident, and our ICAC unit is actively investigating it. There have not been any charges made as of yet,” said the police officer.

Activist Tim Johnson, who claimed to have unmasked over 500 child predators, was seen questioning the professor outside the supermarket in the viral video. “You understand what a child is, right? How are you feeling right now?”

Shah said, “I feel horrible” and he also said “I f***ed up” when he was busted for his plan of meeting and having sex with a 14-year-old boy.

During the confrontation, two patrol vehicles from the SDPD arrived at the scene during the encounter. In the video, an SDPD officer is heard telling the activists that Shah would not be taken into custody at that moment, explaining that an arrest was not permitted under the circumstances.

However, the officer stated that Shah’s phone would be seized and the evidence handed over to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
