TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) is currently summoning social media developers in turn to undergo an examination of compliance with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP TUNAS).
Meetings with major entities, such as Google and Meta, have recently been claimed as a way to keep the digital space safe for children in Indonesia.
The Minister of Komdigi, Meutya Hafid, stated that this summoning is part of a measured law enforcement process and in accordance with procedures.
“There is no tolerance for non-compliance that could potentially endanger children in the digital space,” said Meutya in a written statement on Monday, March 30, 2026.
According to Meutya, this process is carried out carefully to avoid the potential for maladministration and to ensure that every action has a strong legal basis. Through a warning letter, Komdigi also asked TikTok and Roblox to show full compliance as previously committed.
“If there is no significant improvement, the Ministry of Communication and Digital will proceed to the summoning and examination stage,” she said.
In the same written statement, the ministry expressed appreciation for Bigo Live and X for implementing age verification mechanisms and deactivating user accounts under 16 years old in accordance with the provisions. Meutya stated that “compliance is not difficult if there is commitment.”
She also reminded all business entities operating in Indonesia to comply with the policies in Indonesia. In the future, she said, “Komdigi will tighten supervision and will not hesitate to take firm action against platforms that ignore regulations.”
