INTERPOL’s 2025/2026 Asia and South Pacific Cyberthreat Assessment Report, released June 17, 2026, found that cybercrime accounts for over 30 per cent of all recorded crime in more than half of the 18 member countries surveyed. The report documents AI-enabled threats – including a 600 per cent surge in deepfake discussions on criminal forums – outpacing regional enforcement capacity, with scam centre operations generating close to $40 billion annually.
