Since 2021, I’ve been building Jersey Cyber Security Centre (JCSC). As a cyber defence capability for an island state and leading International Finance Centre, we’re a small team with a big task. We’re also just one of hundreds around the world: teams in countries from all around the world, all united by a mission to defend people and the services we rely on from malicious cyber threats. That task has only become harder in recent years thanks to complex geopolitical challenges such as Russia’s war in Ukraine, the emergency of organised cyber crime as a global industry, and the additional challenges now posed by artificial intelligence (AI).
It makes sense to collaborate together to respond to these threats, and as a result we have announced that we are now working with the States of Guernsey to ensure all the Channel Islands have access to specialist support for cyber security incidents, as well as advice and guidance to built better and more effective defences.
Two more flags in the world map with a defensive capability. They may be small flags, but they matter. Just as it takes an island to secure an island, it takes a world to secure one. We all have a part to play, and you can read more about ours from the States of Guernsey here and from JCSC here.
