Iowa County computer network outage caused by ransomware | News | #ransomware | #cybercrime

DODGEVILLE, Wis. — Iowa County’s computer network was impacted by ransomware last week, officials confirmed Friday.

The county detected suspicious activity on the network on April 28, and announced on April 30 that part of the network went offline. Cybersecurity experts were brought in to investigate, and determined that ransomware was the cause of the issue.

A county spokesperson said outside experts are investigating the scope and nature of the disturbance, and that the county is working to restore and rebuild the impacted portions of the network.

The county did not give a firm timeline on when everything will be fully operational, and said to expect delays in providing information and responding to requests.
