Israeli cybersecurity startup Huskeys raises $8M seed round, exits stealth | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #ransomware

Israeli cybersecurity startup Huskeys has emerged from stealth with an $8 million seed funding round, as it works to modernize web application security without replacing existing infrastructure.

Founded in 2025 by CEO Itai Gafni and CTO Roy Weissfeld, both former members of the IDF’s elite 8200 intelligence unit, the company is developing what it calls a new category in cybersecurity: Edge Security Management (ESM). The platform is designed to work alongside existing web application firewalls (WAFs), rather than replace them.

Web application firewalls, widely used to filter and monitor internet traffic, have remained largely unchanged for decades despite evolving cyber threats. Huskeys says it will address this gap by adding an artificial intelligence layer that analyzes traffic, evaluates security rules and automatically adjusts them in real time.

The company says its system enables organizations to improve protection while reducing false positives — such as legitimate users being blocked — which can lead to lost revenue. In one case cited by the company, its platform identified overly restrictive security rules at an e-commerce site and recommended changes that prevented what it described as millions of dollars in potential losses.

Huskeys’ technology integrates with multiple cloud environments and existing security systems, allowing organizations to manage and optimize defenses without modifying application code.

Despite being less than a year old, the startup says it has already secured dozens of customers, including global companies such as TikTok, Merlin Entertainments and AI firm Hugging Face.

The funding round drew a broad range of investors, including venture capital firms such as ToDay (part of Merlin Ventures), 10D, SVAngel, CCL and Alumni Ventures, as well as private investors from the cybersecurity sector. The investor group also includes several chief information security officers from Fortune 500 companies and figures from the sports world, including German soccer player Mario Götze and former NFL player Larry Fitzgerald.

Web application firewalls was invented and developed in Israel nearly 30 years ago, in response to the need to filter application traffic as the internet expanded. However, little has changed since, and the product continues to operate in a largely unchanged format and technology stack for decades.

Huskey’s ESM (Edge Security Management) – a new technology currently in the process of patent registration, that adds an Agentic AI layer (a self-operating artificial intelligence that adapts based on user needs) on top of organizations’ edge and WAF infrastructure. The platform integrates seamlessly with any existing WAF, enabling security teams to continuously measure effectiveness, dynamically configure rule sets, and orchestrate defense actions across multi-cloud and multi-WAF environments, without replacing infrastructure or modifying application code. The result, according to the company, is optimal protection that finally balances security requirements with business outcomes.

Huskeys currently employs about 20 people, primarily in Israel, and plans to expand its research and development and go-to-market teams as demand grows.

“The platform was designed for rapid deployment, enabling implementation within minutes and delivering value within hours,” Gafni said. “For organizations whose revenue is driven by website traffic, this is a true game changer.”
