A Jefferson City man had been charged with possessing child sexual abuse materials.
In January 2025, deputies with the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Task Force got a Cyber Tip about Internet-related crimes against children.
The investigation led deputies to an IP address that led them to an address in Jefferson City.
On Wednesday, May 21, a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy spoke to the owner of the email account, Austin Russell, 27, at the Jefferson City Police Department.
Court documents indicate the deputy said Russell admitted that the account was his.
The documents went on to state that more charges could be filed concerning the possible sexual exploitation of a young relative.
Russell was being held at the Cole County Jail without bond.
Prosecutors charged him with Possession of Child Pornography.
