HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — A boy faces charges after a video of him abusing a dog circulating on social media prompted Hamilton County deputies to investigate.
That video was sent to our newsroom.
It shows the boy repeatedly punching a dog in the face and picking it up to slam it to the ground.
A release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies took the boy into custody late Friday evening after being notified about the video by members of the community.
He was booked in the juvenile detention center for one count of cruelty to animals.
HSCO says an adult family member still has the dog, and animal services is following up on the dog’s condition.
The boy’s identity has not been released, and the investigation is still ongoing.
