A social media video shows the goats following passengers aboard a bus before being shooed off.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Two goats wandering Portland were recently spotted boarding a city bus before quickly being shooed back off.
A video posted to the TriMet transit agency’s social media shows the goats following passengers onto a bus.
“Kids these days,” says the caption. “So … what happened here? Well, the goats remain a bit of a mystery.”
The video shows the little white goats wait until passengers board the bus. They appear undecisive about which of two sets of doors to go through, then pick one and get on board. The doors shut, and a couple of passengers and the operator notice the situation.
The doors reopen, and the those on board usher the goats off the bus — while others went about their day, unaware of the hoofed guests on board.
The goats appear to have disembarked without much complaint. The video shows them watch the bus drive away.
According to the social media post’s caption, someone called 911 to report two pygmy goats wandering loose in the area. TriMet checked its station camera and spotted them jumping aboard the bus. After their brief introduction to public transportation, the goats reportedly wandered toward a nearby shopping center before disappearing from TriMet’s cameras.
Portland Police checked the area, but the goats were not located. There were also no additional calls about loose goats later that day, TriMet said.
KGW has reached out to Portland police to ask about the loose goats, but a spokesman said he was unaware of the incident.
At least one question has been answered — yes, goats can board a bus. But no, it doesn’t appear they know how to pay the fare.
