KINSTON, Lenoir County — The Kinston Police Department is inviting residents to a town hall meeting Wednesday aimed at helping seniors avoid scams, financial crimes and elder abuse.
The KPD CONNECT Town Hall Forum begins at 6 p.m. at the Neuse Regional Library, located at 510 N. Queen St. in Kinston.
Police say the event will provide an open forum where residents can ask questions, share concerns and discuss issues affecting older adults and the broader community.
The presentation will cover how to recognize common scams, prevent financial exploitation and protect seniors from fraud and elder abuse.
Seniors, caregivers, family members and anyone interested in fraud prevention are encouraged to attend.
Police hope the meeting will help residents stay one step ahead of scammers — because when it comes to fraud, knowledge is the best defense.
