Belarus’ Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov held a meeting with China’s State Councillor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong, which was also attended by Head of Beijing’s Police Department Qin Yunbiao and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China Aleksandr Chervyakov, sb.by reports with reference to Belarus’ Interior Ministry
Mr. Kubrakov expressed hope that the dialogue would be productive and would be a good opportunity for in-depth analysis and development of proposals for the future. “The intensification of interagency co-operation is primarily due to the very good personal relations between the heads of state, which is confirmed by the recent meeting between President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping. Belarus and China work closely and effectively within the framework of international and regional organisations on the whole range of issues,” he noted.
Belarus’ Interior Ministry strives to expand the areas of co-operation with its Chinese colleagues and is open to communication in all areas. The Police Co-operation Centre established on the territory of the Chinese-Belarusian Great Stone Industrial Park in 2019 is a positive example of partnership, its activities are aimed at ensuring the safety of residents and employees, and assisting in law enforcement.
Mr. Kubrakov added, “Belarus is interested in studying Chinese experience in combating transnational organised crime, extremism and terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal migration, ensuring public order during major socio-political and sporting events, as well as the activities of units engaged in video surveillance and video analytics. New models of personal video recorders are of particular interest. We are ready for the interaction of special and territorial units, the establishment of new contacts and the exchange of cadets between departmental educational institutions in the field of personnel training.”
The Interior Minister proposed to develop partnership in organising annual recuperation trips for children of excellent policemen and military personnel, as well as those who died or were injured in the line of duty. He also took the initiative to exchange employees for sanatorium treatment.
In turn, Wang Xiaohong emphasised, “Our co-operation is yielding real results, especially in the fight against cross-border crime, protection of public order, countering drug trafficking and extremism.” He noted that China and Belarus are true friends and strategic partners. Wang Xiaohong expressed particular interest in studying the Belarusian experience in combating cybercrime and information exchange. He also focused on issues of maintaining political security, jointly uncovering economic crimes and ensuring the security of the Belt and Road programme projects.
As reported by the Interior Ministry, Mr. Kubrakov assured his Chinese counterpart of the implementation of the announced initiatives and invited him to visit Belarus at any time convenient for him. He also invited the team of China’s Public Security Ministry to take part in competitions among the special forces of Belarus’ Interior Ministry and expressed readiness to organise a friendly football match at the new stadium in the capital, built with the assistance of the People’s Republic of China.
